Announcing Sansec as Our First Ecommerce Camp Sponsor

Table of Contents

Alongside announcing the speakers for Ecommerce Camp Birmingham, I was glad to introduce our first sponsor: Sansec, experts in ecommerce security. It is a partnership I am genuinely happy about, and it is a good example of the kind of company we want in the room, because who sponsors an event tells you as much about it as who speaks.

Meet Sansec

Sansec is a global leader in protecting Magento and Adobe Commerce merchants from cyber threats. If you run a serious store on either platform, they are the kind of team whose work you benefit from whether or not you have ever heard their name, because they spend their time finding and stopping the attacks that quietly target ecommerce. They are also one of our own trusted security partners at MageCloud, which is exactly why I was comfortable putting their name first.

I do not recommend security partners lightly. The cost of getting this wrong is not a slow week, it is a compromised store and a broken customer relationship. Sansec earns the trust because they do the unglamorous, technical work of keeping merchants safe, and I have seen it firsthand.

Why Security Belongs at an Ecommerce Event

Security is one of those topics store owners tend to avoid until it is too late. It is not as exciting as a new marketing channel or a redesign, so it slides down the priority list until an incident forces it back to the top. Putting a security specialist front and centre at an ecommerce event is a deliberate correction to that, a way of saying the boring, essential foundations matter as much as the growth tactics.

It is the same reason I write about the security side even when it is not what people want to hear, like the fake Shopify takedown notices that trick merchants into panic. The threats are real and constant, and the merchants who take them seriously before an incident are the ones who never have to learn the hard way.

Sponsorship Without the Agency Pitch

There is a particular kind of sponsor we want, and a particular kind we do not. We welcome a small, select group of companies who genuinely want to connect with founders running one to ten million pound businesses, and who have real insight to share rather than a pitch to deliver. The one thing we are not interested in is turning the event into a wall of agency sales pitches. Founders can smell that from across the room, and it wastes everyone’s time.

That curation is the whole point. An event is only as valuable as the quality of the people and companies in it, so we would rather have a few genuinely useful sponsors than a long list of logos. Sansec, as a company that solves a real and often ignored problem, is exactly the standard we want to set.
