AI for Small Businesses Starts With a Knowledge Base

This morning I had a good conversation with Feray about how small and medium businesses here in the UK, and especially in Cheshire, can use AI.

Not the AI that gets the headlines. We talked about the boring, useful version: using AI to build a knowledge base.

The knowledge is already there

Most small businesses already have everything they need. It just lives in the owner’s head. How you quote. How you handle a complaint. What each service actually includes.

AI cannot work from what nobody has written down.

Start with your services

The first step is simple. Put all of your services inside one knowledge base. What each one is, who it is for, and what it includes.

Once that exists, AI has something real to work from. So does a new hire on their first day.

I did a version of this for myself, which I wrote about in Why I Built A Founder Knowledge Base.

A workshop in Cheshire?

Feray and I discussed organising a workshop on this in Cheshire. Nothing is confirmed yet. I will share it here if it goes ahead.

If you run a small business around Chester and you would come, message me on LinkedIn. It helps to know who is interested before we plan anything.
