Why We Host Dinners, Not Just Conferences

We are hosting another dinner with the London ecommerce community, and I could not be more excited about it. If you are in ecommerce and based in or around London, I want to personally invite you to join us. These dinners have become one of the most valuable things we do at Ecommerce Camp, and the format is deliberately different from anything else in the industry. No stages, no slides, no sponsored talks. Just great food, honest conversation, and a room full of people who actually understand what it is like to run an ecommerce business.

What Happens at These Events

The format is simple. We bring together 20 to 30 ecommerce founders, operators, and senior leaders for an evening of food and conversation. There is no agenda beyond connecting with interesting people and sharing experiences. Some of the best business relationships I have seen in the ecommerce space started at one of these dinners — partnerships formed, problems solved, introductions made that led to transformative opportunities. There is something about sitting around a table with good food that breaks down the barriers that exist at typical industry events. People open up about their real challenges, not the polished version they present on stage.

Why Small, Curated Events Matter

The ecommerce events industry is dominated by massive conferences with thousands of attendees, expo halls full of vendors, and speaker lineups that look impressive but often deliver generic, surface-level content. These events have their place, but they rarely create the deep connections that actually move your business forward. You cannot have a meaningful conversation about your specific challenges when you are one of 5,000 attendees competing for a speaker’s attention during a 15-minute networking break. Our dinners solve this by keeping the group small, curating the guest list carefully, and creating an environment where genuine conversation can happen.

How to Get Involved

If you are an ecommerce founder, managing director, or senior operator and you would like to join one of our upcoming London dinners, reach out to me directly or visit Ecommerce Camp for details. We are growing this community thoughtfully and intentionally — we would rather have the right 25 people in the room than 250 people who are there for the free drinks. These events are about building real relationships that support your business growth over the long term, and every person we have hosted so far has told us this is unlike anything else in the UK ecommerce calendar.
